Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to the fanbase for his response when taken off in the recent heated Clasico clash win.

Vinicius was taken off in the second half and expressed his disappointment by going straight off the pitch.

Vinicius later returned to the dugout and, after his side's 2-1 victory, tried to confront Barcelona's opposing player during unpleasant final whistle exchanges.

"This day I want to express regret to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was replaced in the Clasico," Vinicius shared on his account.

"Similarly to I have said in person during today's training, I wish to say sorry once more to my team-mates, the club, and the president.

"At times fervor gets the better of me because I constantly desire to win and help my team. My competitive character originates in the passion I feel for this club and everything it represents."

The player signed for Madrid from Brazil in the year 2018 for £38.7m and has scored 111 goals in numerous matches.

But his prospects in the La Liga is unclear with rumors in recent months suggesting that Los Blancos would contemplate allowing the player move on if they were to receive a suitable offer.

When the winger was substituted on Sunday, broadcast footage from coverage provider Dazn captured him remarking: "It's always me! I'm exiting the club! It's better if I leave, I'm leaving."

In his latest post on X, Vinicius commented: "I vow to keep fighting at all times for the benefit of the club, as I have done since the initial arrival."
